On this blog I’ve written a good few articles on Search Engine Optimisation. Lately I have noticed a significant increase in traditional marketing folks who contact me to learn more about SEO.

So, in addition to reading my blog (please continue to do so :-p), I thought it was useful to turn you on to some of my favourite SEO blogs.

Because I don’t want to drown you in information, let’s start with:

3 Great SEO Blogs to start learning about SEO:

SEOmoz Daily Bloghttp://www.seomoz.org/blog

Tja. What do you say about SEOmoz? This blog is the bomb. Contributions from multiple expert writers, extensive test reports, multiple entries per day, in depth analysis as well as practical advise. Fantastic blog. Must read.

Blog of UK Search Engine Marketing agency SEOptimise. For some reason they always seem to be writing about the stuff that I was just thinking about. Which is usually the stuff that comes up when working with my clients. SEOptimise must be listening to their clients well!

This is also a great blog. Compared to the other two, this one is much more skewed towards blogging. The blog contains loads of detailed information. The look and feel is a bit geeky, but once you get into the content you will be sold.

Alright. That’s it for now. There’s at least 10 other SEO blogs that would have deserved a place in this Top 3, but in this life, you gotta make choices, right? Enjoy!

HI Michiel Those three are good good choices for general SEO knowledge. I’ve been a member of SEOmoz since they first started doing memberships and it’s value to me is very high. A couple of other good ones I’d recommend for more specialized info are: Andrew Shotland’s Local SEO Guide – http://www.localseoguide.com for companies that focus on bringing in traffic from their local city or region; and Tamar Weinberg’s Technipedia http://www.techipedia.com/. (No, I’m not affiliated with them in any way.)

Thanks for your tips Chris. Will check out Local SEO Guide. Tamar Weinberg is in my Reader! Cheers Michiel

This topic is very near and dear to my heart as I have recently graduated from the Internet Marketing Master of Science degree program at Full Sail University. While SEO was only one part of the program, I was able to get a complete perspective into the world of online marketing. Prior to the program I had some professional experience with SEO, but I was able to solidify my SEO knowledge at Full Sail and bring it full circle. I should make it clear that I do not consider myself an expert as a result of obtaining the master’s degree, rather that formal education is a powerful method for developing knowledge in the field of SEO. Not many universities have incorporated SEO into their curriculums, but will hopefully do so in the coming years as cyrusshepard suggests.
